Xiaomi Unveils 5.5-Inch Redmi Note in China, Coming to Singapore In a Few Weeks
Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note which has a 5.5-inch 720p display and comes in two variants. As with all its smartphones, the Redmi Note has a very attractive price tag of 999 yuan. It will be coming to Singapore and Malaysia in a few weeks.

Xiaomi officially unveiled its first phablet, the Redmi Note in China yesterday.
As reported in previous leaks, the Redmi Note has a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor. It will come in two configurations:
- Processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 1GB RAM
- Processor clocked at 1.7GHz with 2GB RAM
Similar to the 5-inch Mi 3, the Redmi Note will be equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with F2.2 aperture, 28mm wide angle lens and a LED flash. It also has a front-facing 5-megapixel camera.
Other specs include dual-SIM support, 8GB internal storage, microSD expansion up to 32GB, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy and a removable 3,200mAh battery. It measures 154 x 78.7 x 9.45mm and weighs 199g.
The Redmi Note will be available for sale in China on March 26. The 1.4GHz model is priced at 799 yuan (S$164) while the 1.7GHz model will cost 999 yuan (S$205). Both prices are based on yuan to SGD conversion rates at press time.
Bin Lin, co-founder and President of Xiaomi stated in a Facebook post that the company is working hard to bring in the 1.7GHz model to Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong as early as May, if not earlier.
