Xiaomi enters the foldable flip phone space with the Mix Flip.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, the Xiaomi Mix Flip comes with HyperOS and RAM configurations of 12B and 16GB. Internal storage options are 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

To ensure optimal performance, the Mix Flip sports an updated 3D cooling system with a unique "staircase" design to quickly dissipate heat from the mobile platform.

Xiaomi also deployed its proprietary SU7 "aerogel" thermal insulation material near the inner display side of the "staircase" to block heat transfer which could otherwise affect the user experience.

In addition, the double-layer graphite at the hinge allows heat to be evenly conducted without the risk of heat accumulation.

The Mix Flip is equipped with a 4,780mAh battery with self-healing properties that allow the battery capacity to maintain at a minimum 80% capacity even after 1,600 cycles.

Coupled with the Surge battery management system that manages the charging and discharging process, Xiaomi says its Mix Flip offers a battery life performance comparable to non-foldable phones.

On the front of the Mix Flip is a 4-inch 1.5K 120Hz display with 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Thanks to HyperOS, the 16:9 outer display is optimised to meet most daily usage needs.

For example, you can type comfortably on the full-display keyboard, and the outer display works with over 200 popular apps from communications, entertainment, health, reading, shopping, and learning. Widgets can also display information about the time, weather, step count, music control, recently used apps, calling taxis, food delivery, and flights/trains.

Housed at the top corner of the external display are two cameras – a 50MP f/1.7 primary sensor and a 50MP f/2.0 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. They are developed in collaboration with Leica.

When you unfold the Mix Flip, there is a 6.86-inch 120Hz OLED main screen. The main screen has a 32MP selfie camera.

Xiaomi's keenest competitors will invariably be phones like Samsung's new Galaxy Z Flip6, the Honor Magic V Flip, and Oppo's upcoming N4 Flip. With its impressive specs and reasonable price, the Xiaomi Mix Flip certainly looks like an enticing option – on paper, at least.
