Xiaomi's new 212W Hypercharge Power Bank will be able to juice up laptops and phones super quickly

Power banks are a dime a dozen these days, but it's hard to find a good power bank that has enough capacity to charge up larger devices like laptops at fast enough speeds. The newly announced Xiaomi 212W Hypercharge Power Bank is one such device that can satisfy most people's charging needs.

As expected from the name, the power bank can support a maximum power output of up to 212W across its two USB-C and one USB-A ports. The actual power output depends on which cables and ports are in use, and the maximum output for the USB 3.1 Type-C port is 140W while the second USB-C port can output a maximum of 45W. The lone USB-A port can output 120W maximum if paired with a compatible Xiaomi 6A Type-C fast charging cable.

These USB-C ports also double up as input ports for charging the power bank and are very efficient, supporting 100W and 45W max input power on the USB 3.1 Type-C and normal Type-C ports respectively.

Inside, five separate 4,900mAh battery cells add up to a total of 24,500mAh capacity, which means this power bank is safe to bring on flights since the 89Wh rating is under the 100Wh limit for most airlines.

There are also plenty of protection mechanisms built into the power bank, such as temperature protection, short-circuit protection, overvoltage and overcurrent protections, and more. For smaller devices which don't require fast charging, there's a nifty low-current discharge mode which can continuously charge devices like Bluetooth earbuds, smartwatches, and more.

The transparent chassis offers a glimpse into the power bank's innards, and a colour display shows information such as remaining power, charging speed, protocols, and more.

Xiaomi claims that the power bank is able to charge a Xiaomi 14T Pro (our review here) from 0-100% in just 29 minutes, while an iPhone 15 charges from 0-60% in 30 minutes. A MacBook Pro will be able to charge to 40% in 30 minutes, although a fully charged power bank will only be able to offer a 69% charge of the laptop.

Regardless, the power bank looks like a great option for people who need a large capacity external battery to juice up multiple devices quickly.

The Xiaomi 212W Hypercharge Power Bank retails at S$115 and is now available at Xiaomi's online store. You can also keep a lookout for it on Xiaomi's official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
