Under-display selfie cameras are no longer a dream for smartphone makers as the world's first solution is now in mass production.

Chinese company Visionox announced that it is now mass producing the world's first under-display selfie camera solution. Visionox even boasted about some of its hardware enhancements such as improved transparency in the camera section of the display and a highly advanced design to minimise interference.

The Chinese company also shared that it is working with smartphone makers to develop a software algorithm which can deliver brighter and sharper selfies through the reduction of diffraction, glare and the "fogging" effect.

Oppo and Xiaomi were among the first smartphone makers last year to show off their under-display front cameras. Xiaomi's senior vice president Wang Xiang tweeted a series of slides to explain how the company's under-screen camera works.

Huawei and Apple are rumoured to be working on future phones with under-display selfie cameras. Two Huawei patents reveal a future phone design with no punch hole on the front display or any cut-out for the front-facing camera. The Apple iPhone 13 is said to have no notch for Face ID based on a prototype obtained by Macotakara.
