The USB-C port on the Apple iPhone 15 lineup might support faster charging and data transfer speeds with MFi-certified cables.

Tipster @VNchocoTaco claims that non-MFi cables "will be software limited in data and charging speed". This means that third-party cables without the MFi certification will have slower charging and data transfer speeds on the iPhone 15 models.

A recent rumour made a similar claim; Apple is said to have developed a custom integrated circuit for the USB-C port which could pave the way for new MFi-certified accessories. There is also a report on the iPhone 15 Pro supporting higher-speed data transfers with USB-C compared the non-Pro models.
