TSMC said to be the exclusive supplier of A12 chips in the 2018 iPhones

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is reportedly the exclusive supplier of A12 chipsets in the iPhones this year.

TSMC has reportedly scored a major victory against Samsung to manufacture all the A12 processors in the 2018 iPhones.

Based on information from industry sources, DigiTimes claims that TSMC has secured orders from over 40 customers for fabricating 7nm chips this year. Apple and Qualcomm are highlighted as TSMC's major customers. TSMC is said to use extreme ultraviolet (UV) technology for the manufacturing process.

If the report is true, TSMC will be the exclusive supplier of the Apple's chipsets for the third consecutive year. TSMC will also likely see its profits rise significantly as Apple is rumored to be launching three new iPhones this year.
