Donald Trump, the incumbent President of the United States (POTUS), has announced and launched a new smartphone, along with a 5G network phone plan.

According to a press statement released by The Trump Organisation (Trump’s private and family-owned holding company for his business ventures), the company has established a distribution portal for Trump Mobile.

The website carries the Trump Mobile T1SM Phone and a US$47.45/month 5G phone plan called The 47 Plan.

Details about Donald Trump’s golden phone, T1SM Phone, are scarce. Its official website said that the phone is “Made In USA”, with no details on who provides many of its components or its origin of manufacturing (the U.S.A. has 50 states, after all). The phone’s spec page is also missing several key bits of information that inform us whether the phone matches its US$499 asking price.

Despite that, the phone's marketing materials did not forget to include President Donald Trump's inauguration date for his second term as U.S. president, which is displayed on the home screen of the pictured device. It's unclear whether the user can change the phone's wallpaper.

While it comes with Android 15 out of the box, it doesn’t specify the processor it uses, the resolution of its display, its speed and technology used for its RAM and internal storage, or its IP ratings, the supported Wi-Fi bands and networking standards.

We do know that the phone features 12GB RAM and a 6.78-inch “punch-hole” AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. On the rear is a triple rear camera array (50MP main, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro lens), which is one of the first phones we’ve seen in a long while that doesn't have an ultrawide camera. It also features a decently sized 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging.

What’s surprising is that the phone offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is increasingly rare in modern Android phones. It also features 256GB of storage, which is expandable via a card slot, presumably a MicroSD slot. The phone also packs in an on-display fingerprint sensor and “AI Face Unlock”.

There aren’t enough clues for us to guess which model the Trump Mobile T1SM Phone is likely based on, since most phones typically have an ultrawide camera to complement their main camera.

Many of the 6.78-inch AMOLED phones we’ve reviewed, like the CMF Phone 1, Vivo V29, and Honor X9b, don’t precisely match the Trump Mobile T1SM Phone because they differ greatly in other ways (battery, camera, etc.). Even Qualcomm’s “Insider Phone” has a higher refresh rate, which also rules out the San Diego-based chip designer.

That said, the T1SM Phone (or T1 Phone 8002 gold version) only costs US$499 (~S$639.85) for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which doesn’t sound so bad if we knew what processor it uses.

You can place a US$100 deposit to pre-order the phone, with its forecasted retail availability scheduled to start in September 2025. Whether you should is still up for debate.

Separately, Trump Mobile has a 5G network phone plan at US$47.75/month (~S$61.23/month), with a name that likely references its price tag.

On paper, the plan sounds like a better deal than what we’d typically get through our local MVNOs and telcos, because it offers:

  • Unlimited talktime (but it doesn’t specify incoming, outgoing, or both)
  • Unlimited texting (subject to data limits)
  • Unlimited mobile data with the first 20GB at “high-speed”
  • International calling for up to 100 destinations — exact duration in minutes per supported destination here

Other perks that are seemingly targeted at a U.S. audience, including third-party device protection, roadside assistance for breakdowns, and 24/7 telehealth and pharmacy benefits.

Notably, Trump Mobile’s The 47 Plan offers unlimited data and cellular calling to many international destinations, including Singapore, Malaysia, China, Japan, the U.K., and Sweden. Calling from international locations is at a “discounted” rate, and the mobile plan’s landing page states that it’s designed for out-of-station U.S. military personnel who want to call home.

Another notable feature is that it allowed port-in of an existing phone number, but doesn’t say if there will be extra charges for doing so.

Besides saying it’s offered via a “5G Nationwide Network”, the mobile data and minutes plan doesn’t indicate the true network provider of this plan.

The 47 Plan is also available on their official website here.
