Well-known tipster @evleaks, also known as Evan Blass from VentureBeat, has published the first high resolution photo of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S9 flagship phones and some official specs.
As you can see, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ look very much similar to the Galaxy S8 phones. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have display sizes of 5.8-inches and 6.2-inches respectively. The differences between the two models can be found under the hood:
Galaxy S9 | Galaxy S9+ | |
Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
(U.S and China),
Exynos9810
(rest of the world) | |
RAM | 4GB RAM | 6GB RAM |
Internal storage space | 64GB | 128GB |
Front camera | 8MP | |
Rear camera | 12MP | Dual 12MP |
Camera features | "Super slow-mo" video capture
Variable aperture on primary camera
(switches between f/1.5 and f/2.4) |
Two sources who are briefed on Samsung's plans also revealed that the rear cameras and fingerprint sensors are aligned vertically instead of horizontally. The fingerprint sensor is positioned more strategically at the bottom of the stack. Both phones will have stereo speakers at the bottom.
Samsung has confirmed that it would be announcing the Galaxy S9 phones on 25 February, a day before Mobile World Congress 2018. Pre-orders are reportedly starting on 1 March with retail availability slated for 16 March, a date which is also revealed in the photo.
