With the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL mere days away from their official announcement (4th October 2017, 9 A.M. Pacific Time, on YouTube), it’s inevitable (maybe even deliberate) that more information and images of the upcoming Google flagship devices bubble up online.
Famous tipster and editor for VentureBeat, Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter), leaked high-resolution pictures of the new Android devices. The Pixel 2 is manufactured by HTC, while LG makes the Pixel 2 XL. Both phones will ship with Android 8.0 (Oreo) OS.
Previously, when Droid Life leaked the Pixel 2’s starting price of US$649, the photos that accompanied the information weren’t as clear. However, the latest leak confirmed that the Pixel 2 would come in three colors: Kinda Blue, Just Black, and Clearly White. The new VentureBeat leak implied that the Pixel 2 XL would instead be available in a panda-looking hybrid color variant.

While it’s unlikely, it remains to be seen if the new stock Android devices will ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 (a slightly upgraded version of the current flagship processor, Snapdragon 835). Previously, they were one of the first phones to ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, while its rivals sported a Snapdragon 820.
Both phones pack similar specs – besides the processor, they come equipped with 4GB RAM accompanied by either 64GB or 128GB internal storage, with single 12-megapixel cameras on the back. The smaller Pixel 2 will tout a 5.0-inch Full HD (1080p) display in 16:9 aspect ratio. The larger Pixel 2 XL will have a 6.0-inch QHD+ (1440p) display in 18:9 aspect ratio (giving it slimmer bezels to compete with near bezel-less alternatives like the Galaxy Note8 and V30).
According to VentureBeat, the phones will also see a staggered rollout, with Pixel 2 being available from 19th October 2017, while the Pixel 2 XL will be out on 15th November 2017. This launch format is similar to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X - the experimental iOS smartphone with Face ID will be available on 3rd November 2017, while the former two ‘regular’ iPhones are already on sale.
