Tech enthusiasts have something new to debate about the Samsung Galaxy Note20 models aside from the Qualcomm Snapdragon vs Samsung Exynos affair.
During the teardown of the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra, iFixit discovered the U.S models with Snapdragon mobile platform come with a multi-layered graphite thermal pad. Zack from JerryRigEverything claimed that his international set with Exynos processor also has a graphite thermal pad. However, there are reports of other U.S models with copper heat pipes. iFixit believes the different cooling methods used in the Galaxy Note20 models could be due to the heat-prone 5G mmWave hardware.
Samsung boasted last year about its Galaxy Note10 having the world's slimmest vapor chamber cooling system, which allowed the phones to deliver optimal performance during gameplay. What made Samsung change its mind this time?
Anyhow, iFixit gives the Galaxy Note20 a repairability score of 3/10 which is the same as the Galaxy S20+, Note10+ and S10+. The battery replacement, screen repairs and tough adhesive are cited as major factors for the repairability score.
