Soon, you can reply to a text message on your Android phone with your Windows 10 PC
In the upcoming Anniversary Update, Microsoft is also updating Action Center and bringing it to the cloud.
At Build 2016, Microsoft announced that an Anniversary Update is coming this summer for Windows 10 devices, with a focus on pen, presence, and voice features to enable users to better interact with the world around them.
But there are many more new features and improvements (some still pending) in the Anniversary Update that Microsoft didn’t show off during the keynote. Among them are improvements to the Action Center.
According to a developer session titled ‘Notification Futures: Action Center in the Cloud and the Windows Notification Platform’, Microsoft is also updating Action Center and bringing it to the cloud. By bringing notifications to the cloud, the obvious benefit is a more seamless experience when handling them across different devices.
For a start, Microsoft is going to mirror notifications from one device on another. If you’ve an Android phone and you’re using Cortana and have signed into your Microsoft account, when a notification comes in, it will also show up on your Windows 10 PC. You can also action on it, such as replying a text message right on the PC. Additionally, when you dismiss a notification on one device, it’s also dismissed on your other devices. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work on iOS.
