LG is not the only Android vendor to join the Google Play Edition program today. Sony's first phablet, the Xperia Z Ultra is now a part of the program too.

Available now for US$649 in the U.S, the Xperia Z Ultra is the first Google Play Edition (GPE) phablet. Other than running on Android 4.4 KitKat, the GPE device is identical to the model unveiled in June.

As a quick recap, the Xperia Z Ultra sports a 6.44-inch Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) display. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

Other specs include a 6.5mm thin profile, IP55 (dust-proof) and IP58 (water-resistant) certification ratings, 16GB internal storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor RS for mobile and 4G LTE support.
