The Infinity Display is one of the key selling features of Samsung's latest Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone, but it could turn out to be its most problematic one yet.

The Korean Herald claims that some customers in South Korea have complained about a reddish tint on the displays of the Galaxy S8. These complaints surfaced on social networks (e.g. Instagram) and online communities (e.g. Korean forum PPOMPPU).  The issue is apparently so widespread that "Galaxy S8 Red Screen" has become one of the top search terms on Naver, South Korea's biggest search engine.

An industry analyst who spoke to the Korea Herald stated that it could be a color balance issue after Samsung used deep red AMOLED to enhance the red. This is due to the nature of OLED panel where two subpixels (red-green and blue-green) are used. Other industry experts told another publication, Business Korea that it could be a defect with the chip which adjust the colors on the display. Different chips supplied by different providers may result in the red tints.

Samsung told the Korean Herald and Business Korea that "it is not a quality problem" and users can manually adjust the color range of the display via Settings > Display > Screen Mode > Color balance. However, if the reddish tint remains, customers can choose to change it at the service centre.

Despite Samsung's claims, some customers said that they were unable to adjust the color as the screen is already optimized.
