Sluggish iPhone 6s sales forced Apple to cut production this quarter
Nikkei Asian Review reports that Apple has cut production for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus as sales continue to be sluggish.
Slowing growth in the global smartphone market has affected Apple drastically as the company has notified parts suppliers to reduce production for the current quarter.
Nikkei Asian Review reports that the sluggish sales of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have forced Apple to adjust inventories for the second consecutive quarter. In the previous quarter, Apple reportedly lowered production by 30%. Parts suppliers such as Japan Display, Toshiba and Sony are expected to lower their earnings forecasts.
DigiTimes claimed earlier this month that chip orders from Apple were relatively slow this quarter compared to the same period in previous years. At Apple's upcoming earnings report, CEO Tim Cook is likely to announce the first year-over-year revenue drop in 13 years due to slowing sales of the iPhones.
