Samsung starts Android 11 update rollout for Note20 series phones in the U.S.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Note20, Note20+, or Note20 Ultra, it's almost time to start looking forward (and planning for) an upcoming Android 11 update for your devices.

Over in the U.S., multiple reports (1, 2, 3) said that the Samsung Galaxy Note20 series phones are receiving One UI 3.0 (Android 11) updates over-the-air as of this week. The patch for the new firmware is pretty huge at 2.5GB. One can receive it by heading into the device's Settings app, under Software Update. Note20 users are also advised to update via a Wi-Fi connection.

With the Samsung planning to release Note20's updates in January 2021 (according to ), it appears that the current wave of Android 11 OTAs are slightly ahead of schedule. So, if you've not received the update yet, don't fret.

An important difference between Singapore's and U.S.'s Note20 series handsets is the chipset within the device, with the Note20 range here packing the Exynos variant while the U.S. gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon version. The update for Exynos sets might be staggered for a later launch. Still, it's pretty much guaranteed to happen since Samsung promised three generations of firmware updates for several devices, including the Note20 series.
