Samsung Rumored to Launch New Phone with 1.4GHz Processor

While the Samsung Galaxy S II is selling like hot cakes, word on the web is that the Korean company might launch another device with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor to match the upcoming iPhone update.

The Samsung Galaxy S II, which just made its appearance on retail shelves over the weekend, enjoyed tremendous sales success, with. While everyone is clamoring to own the latest Android smartphone powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, word has it that the Korean company is planning to launch another device to rival . This includes a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, with a 1GB RAM and the latest Android Gingerbread iteration.

ITProPortal.com - Popherald claims that sources located in Asia have confirmed that Samsung will have a new Android-powered phone - launched in August or September - that will be pitted against the iPhone 5, one that apparently won't carry the Galaxy branding and which will come with better specs. Expect a 1.4GHz dual core Samsung Exynos SoC (up from 1.2GHz), 1GB RAM and Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with Samsung's own TouchWiz user interface.

Question is, should you get the Samsung Galaxy S II when the stocks are replenished, or hold out and see if the rumor proves true as September draws closer? Either way, that's a lot of dual-core smartphones coming right up, and we won't be surprised if we see quad-core devices popping up in the near future.
