We've heard multiple reports of the Galaxy S9 not doing well in the market, but none has revealed numbers to support their claims. However, Korean publication The Bell claims to have the statistics and they don't look good for Samsung.

Samsung reportedly shipped 9 million units of the Galaxy S9 in Q2 2018 which is 1 million lower than the previous quarter. The South Korean company typically ships more Galaxy S units in the second quarter than the first as the Galaxy S flagship model is generally launched towards the end of the first quarter.

The lower-than-expected sales of the Galaxy S9 could be one reason why Samsung decided to launch the Galaxy Note9 earlier this year. The Galaxy Note9 may help boost smartphone sales ahead of the iPhone launch in September.
