Samsung to launch the Galaxy S9 earlier to compete against Apple's new iPhones?

Samsung might launch the Galaxy S9 earlier than usual to compete against Apple's upcoming iPhones.

Samsung might launch its Galaxy S9 flagship smartphone earlier than expected.

According to The Bell, Samsung Display's OLED panel shipments are scheduled to start in November. The display panel development also started three to four months ahead of schedule under the project name "Star".

Taking into account the two to three months of lead time required to assemble a phone, the Bell claims that the Galaxy S9 is likely to be unveiled in end January 2018 with a global launch in mid February. As the iPhone 8 or iPhone Editon might hit retail shelves in October or November, Samsung wants to bring forward the launch of the Galaxy S9 to defend its smartphone sales.
