It seems that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has found favour in its home market after selling out not once but twice.
According to Samsung fansite and tech publication SamMobile, the Korea-only Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was sold out once during its launch in late October 2024.
Samsung managed to restock the phone, only to sell it out within five minutes. That's faster than the maiden batch.
The phones were also sold out at Korean telcos, like KT, LG Uplus, and SKT, which also signals its popularity.
Samsung has since appended a notice on its Korean online store page, urging other customers to sign up for restocking notifications.
What’s so special about Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a modified variant of Samsung’s current book-style foldable phones. It was based on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 (review here), which was launched in July 2024.
Besides sporting a lighter and thinner build (making it the thinnest Samsung book-style model in its entire catalogue), it also has the widest Main Screen and Secondary Display.
It also has an upgraded 200MP main camera sensor, with far more megapixels (and therefore, more room to pixel-bin for better clarity and detail) than the 50MP one mounted on the regular Galaxy Z Fold6.
Crucially, it does not support the S Pen stylus, while Galaxy Z Fold6 does. Also, it’s not globally available, as it is limited to the South Korea market.
It is also not priced very differently from the S$2,548 (256GB) Galaxy Z Fold6, as the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition starts at 512GB for KRW 2,789,600, approximately ~S2,665.63.
