The Samsung Galaxy S5 is apparently coming sooner than expected.

According to Korean news site inews24, Dong-hoon Chang, the EVP and Head of Design Team for Samsung’s IT and Mobile Communications division confirmed that the company will be announcing the Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014 in February.

The alleged confirmation contradicts earlier reports by other Korean media outlets that Samsung had planned for an official launch this month. If you recall, Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 last March at a launch event in New York while the Galaxy S3 was launched in May 2012 in London.

Would Samsung break its tradition of holding a separate launch event for its flagship smartphone? Well, it's anybody's guess.

The Galaxy S5 is rumored to be powered by a new  64-bit Exynos 6 processor developed by Samsung and available in a waterproof variant. Samsung is also rumored to be launching a new metallic smartphone, the Galaxy F alongside the Galaxy S5
