Samsung is said to be jumping onto the Live Photos bandwagon this year.

According to Android Geeks, its source claim that the software engineering team at Samsung is working on a Live Photos-like feature for the Galaxy S7. The feature is still under development and may arrive on the Galaxy S7 in a future software update.

The South Korean company hasn't decided on an official name though the source heard multiple names such as Timeless Photo and Vivid Photo. To differentiate itself from Apple's Live Photos, Samsung's concept will not include audio with the photo. This will make it easier for users to share Timeless or Vivid Photo on Facebook directly as GIFs.

Apple introduced the Live Photos feature last September on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus where 1.5 seconds of video is captured before and after a photo is taken. To set the record straight, Apple is not the first to have this feature; HTC unveiled a similar feature, Zoe on its smartphones three years ago.
