Samsung Alleged To Announce Galaxy Note 10.1 on August 15th According to Press Invite? (Update)

The successor to Galaxy Note has been confirmed for an appearance at Samsung's August 29th Mobile Unpacked event, Reuters reports. On the other hand, press invites for the Samsung event in New York on the 15th tease with a picture of a tablet-like device with ink scribbles around it.

Update: With 29th August more or less confirmed to be the date where we get to see, as Reuters puts it, "the sequel to its popular Galaxy Note smartphone", August 15th might very well be the date for the other Galaxy device, the Galaxy Note 10.1. The event is confirmed to say the least, as Samsung has recently emailed out press invites to a Galaxy product event on August 15th in New York. And yes, the invite clearly depicts a large tablet-like device with note-like scribbles surrounding it.

Rumors of the upcoming 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note II are not new - we have previously read of rumors about the successor being in the works with a bigger Super AMOLED display and a narrower design reminiscent of the popular Galaxy S III. This time, the date of its official appearance has been pinpointed as August 15th instead of August 30th, according to BGR's anonymous source. Unconfirmed specs now include an 8- or 12-megapixel camera, Android 4.1, 1.5GB of RAM and new Exynos 5250 dual-core processor. To add on, the company's unbreakable plane display technology and a new flexible AMOLED screen are said to make appearances on the next-gen device.

The information above is highly speculative in nature at this moment - for all we know, as The Verge has mentioned, the redesigned and long-delayed Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet might very well take center stage instead. A new Galaxy Note 10.1 commercial has been making its rounds on the Internet, making this possibility a viable one. Check out the video below:
