With ASUS’s 2024 flagship gaming smartphone queued up for a CES 2024 launch, more rumours about the device are making their way around its fanbase.
The latest rumours hint at a reimagined LED patch for the ROG Phone 8 Pro’s rear, which is vastly different from a different ROG Phone 8 leak we saw earlier.
According to MySmartPrice (which said that they’ve gathered “some high-res images”), the ROG Phone 8 Pro features special LED dots instead of the ROG Phone 8’s RGB backlighting.

We can’t help but compare the ROG Phone 8 Pro and the Nothing Phone (2), since both devices prominently feature LED backlights as a unique identifier.
MySmartPrice also said that the ROG Phone 8 Pro’s LED dots can be programmed, which is also similar to what Nothing Phone (2)’s Glyph Interface was trying to achieve. The extent of backlight customisation on the ASUS phone remains to be seen.

The squarish camera housing is consistent across both Pro and non-Pro leaked renders, which ASUS already revealed in a social media teaser.
Other minor details in these leaked renders also include a centrally-aligned selfie camera, side-mounted buttons, two USB-C ports (one on the left, one at the bottom), a 3.5mm headphone jack, and speakers.
