Research in Motion (RIM) introduces its next generation BlackBerry platform, BBX which combines the best of BlackBerry OS and QNX platform at the BlackBerry DevCon 2011 today.

According to RIM, BBX will serve as a single platform for phones, tablets and embedded devices. It will also act as "the bridge" between BB OS6, BB OS7 and BBX through the support of HTML5. What will this entail? First and foremost, it will be easier for developers to create apps as BBX is based on standards. The company will also be providing open source libraries to make it possible for developers to port C code to the new platform.

Another highlight of BBX is the inclusion of the new BlackBerry Cascades UI Framework that will bring "Super App" capabilities and advanced graphics to offer deep integration between apps, always-on Push services and BBM.
