With Qualcomm keen to get its new Snapdragon 820 SoC out of the woods, reports are suggesting that Qualcomm will ditch long-time partners TSMC in favor of Samsung to produce its new Snapdragon 820 SoC.

The Snapdragon 820 will run on a custom 64-bit Kyro architecture and will support Qualcomm's Zeroth cognitive computing platform. What this means for consumers is that the Snapdragon 820 will be intelligent enough to learn your usage behaviors and patterns over time and be able to anticipate and react to them.

The move would make sense in light of TSMC's ongoing issues with its 16nm manufacturing process. Samsung has already proven its 14nm process and its producing its new Exynos 7 processor that's currently in use in its hot-selling Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge phones.

Qualcomm is hoping to sample the Snapdragon 820 later this year and the first phones to use them should make their appearance early next year.
