Qualcomm just announced it has extended its collaboration with Snapdragon platforms powering Sony's future phones.

The multi-year collaboration will see both companies push the boundaries of smartphone technology by integrating Qualcomm Snapdragon's mobile platforms into Sony's future premium and mid-tier smartphones.

According to Sony, its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Xperia 1 V flagship phone has been "very well received by customers". The company looks forward to continuing its work with Qualcomm to deliver superior experiences on future smartphones powered by Snapdragon platforms.

Sony restructured its smartphone business in 2019 which saw the company focusing its efforts in Japan, Europe, Taiwan and Hong Kong while withdrawing from other regions including Malaysia and Singapore.  With this collaboration extension, consumers can be assured that Sony is here to stay in the smartphone market for years to come.
