Remember the iOS bug that caused the Message app to crash? Well, there is another version circulating around which affects all iPhones running iOS 5 and later.

The malicious link, which can be masked as a Google short link, will play a mp4. video for three seconds when clicked. While it initially seems that there is nothing wrong, the iPhone will slow down significantly and freeze or crash.

If you've accidentally clicked on the link, you need to hard reboot the iPhone. For all iPhones except the iPhone 7, you can hard reboot the device by long-pressing the power and Home buttons simultaneously. For the iPhone 7, you need to long-press the power and volume down buttons at the same time. In the meantime, let's hope Apple has an upcoming software update to fix this issue.
