PSA: MagSafe charger may leave circular imprints on your leather case

Apple says the MagSafe charger may leave circular imprints on leather cases.

If you're planning to get a leather case for the iPhone 12 and use MagSafe charging, you may want to reconsider.

According to a new support document published by Apple, the leather case may show circular imprints from the contact if you keep the iPhone 12 in a leather case while charging with the MagSafe Charger.

Apple also provided other tips when using the MagSafer Charger:

  • MagSafe Charger needs to be connected to a 20W or greater Apple USB-C power adapter for optimal charging.

  • Make sure that there is no objects such as credit cards, hotel key cards or transit cards between your iPhone and MagSafe charger as the magnetic strips or RFID chips may be damaged during charging.

  • If you have the iPhone Leather Wallet with MagSafe, you are advised to remove it before charging.

  • Software may limit charging above 80% to extend the lifespan of the battery if it detects the battery gets too warm.

  • The iPhone will charge via Lightning connector when it is simultaneously connected to power via the Lightning port and MagSafe Charger.
