Panasonic Eluga Spotted at MWC 2012
The Panasonic Eluga Android smartphone took a dive in the water at Mobile World Congress 2012 but escaped unscathed. Read on to find out more.
Panasonic Eluga, the company's first mobile phone since 2005 strutted off its waterproof capabilities at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012.
One of its key highlights of the Eluga is its IP57 rating. The first digit, "5" describes the level of protection against solid foreign objects such as dust, while the second digit, "7" indicates the level of protection of the internals against harmful ingress of water. Seen below is a video depicting how the phone is still able to function despite being placed in water for a period of time.
The Panasonic Eluga is actually a capable smartphone with a dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. It will receive the Android 4.0 update in summer this year. Other specs include an ultra thin profile of 7.8mm, 103g, a 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen, 8GB integrated memory, 8-megapixel autofocus camera, NFC and 1150mAh battery.
