Oppo unveils a pair of revolutionary technologies at MWC Shanghai 2019
Oppo unveils a revolutionary Under Screen Camera for their phones at MWC Shanghai 2019 and a brand new way to communicate.
Goodbye Notch
Really hate that notch from the front-facing camera on your phone? Oppo’s latest smartphone innovation might be just for you. They’ve just developed a customized display that places a high-transparency material over a camera module, effectively placing the camera under the screen itself, hence the name “Under-Screen Camera”.
Special zoning controls have also been created for the screen so the only pixels directly above the camera are be manipulated to let the necessary amount of light in. To take advantage of the higher transmittance properties of the new screen, the camera module has also been customized with a larger aperture, and a larger sensor with greater pixel pitch.
A custom software solution has also been employed by Oppo, applying HDR processing, haze removal, and white balance adjustments to adjust brightness and detail. Features like smart beauty mode and photo filters will also be supported, so the USC will work just as well as regular cameras.
Hello MeshTalk
Also unveiled, was Oppo’s new MeshTalk solution. This lets you create an ad hoc local area network (LAN) with other Oppo devices within 3km of each other without needing a mobile signal, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
No need for servers, base stations or technicians. MeshTalk seems ideal for people who are worried about their information getting stolen. It is able to use signal relay to extend its range and allows for group chat thanks a new custom chipset that allows for faster speed and lower power consumption.
