Oppo did not announce a new wireless VOOC fast charging technology at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, but the Chinese company introduced its latest innovation - the Super VOOC Flash Charge.

While the current VOOC technology provides up to two hours of talk time with five minutes of charge, Oppo claims that the Super VOOC Flash Charge is able to juice up a 2,500mAh battery equipped Oppo smartphone to a full charge in 15 minutes! In comparison, Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 charges up a flat battery to 80% in 35 minutes.

Oppo demonstrated the new charging technology at its booth in MWC.

This is achieved via an all-new low-voltage pulse-charge system and a customized battery. The low-voltage pulse-charge system helps to avoid the risk of damaging the battery with excessively high voltages while at the same dynamically regulating the current. The Super VOOC Flash Charge adapter, cable and connector, are built with premium and extremely reliable military-grade materials to ensure a safe and sustainable charging process.

Oppo also says that the Super VOOC Flash Charge supports micro-USB and USB Type-C. As it is still in the final stages of reliability testing, we can only expect Super VOOC Flash Charge to be commercialized in the near future.
