Recent reports have suggested that Samsung would be unveiling three Galaxy S10 models next year and the iris scanner could be replaced with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The latest rumor suggests that one of the three Galaxy S10 models will not have the in-display fingerprint sensor.

The entry-level Galaxy S10 model, known internally as Beyond 0, is said to feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor while the in-display fingerprint sensor is reserved for the other two premium models. Side-mounted fingerprint sensors are currently used on some Sony flagship phones, Motorola and Vivo handsets.

Using a side-mounted fingerprint sensor could be one of the ways for Samsung to lower the production cost for the entry-level Galaxy S10. The entry-level Galaxy S10 may not also come with the 3D face scanning technology
