A big (and shiny) reason to get the phones by Nothing is the LED backlighting, called Glyph Interface. It provides a stylish visual cue for important notifications, and it can be customised to your liking.

While the Nothing Phone (2) (review here) saw practical upgrades to the lighting system, Nothing has now taken it another step further by introducing Glyph support for third-party apps through its newly launched Glyph Developer Kit.

Nothing uploaded the developer kit on its community forums, and its documentation showed that both Nothing Phone (1) and Nothing Phone (2)’s backlights are fully customisable, with mappable lighting zones mapped for both models.

App developers can now use the information hosted on its GitHub page to explore the kit and indexed lights to determine their preferred styles. Sign-ups for the API key are also open, so developers can start trying out the development kit before enabling Glyph Interface support for their apps.
