HMD Global announced the launch of the Nokia 2 in Singapore today, an entry-level 4G smartphone with a two day battery life. Powered by an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor, the Nokia 2 has a 5-inch 720p display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera. The phone has an aluminum frame with a plastic rear, and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, with an update to Android 8.0 Oreo in the works. The phone is powered by a massive 4100mAh battery.
Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, said: “People rely on their phones so much these days with many people subconsciously rationing their battery life when out and about so they can last the day. We don’t think you should have to do less with your phone which is why we created a smartphone that can power through when other devices need a pit stop. With the Nokia 2, we wanted to replicate the unique Android experience we’ve delivered so far with the long-lasting battery which so many fans associate and expect from their Nokia phones. To make this a reality, every component of the Nokia 2- from the display to battery, chipset to system design has been engineered to draw as little power as possible from the huge battery to give fans a long-lasting phone they can rely on.”
The Nokia 2 is available in two colors: Pewter/Black and Pewter/White at S$159, and is available now through sole distributor A-Mobile from all M1, Courts, Challenger, Best Denki, Sprint Cass, Gain City, Handphoneshop, 3Mobile outlets, Mustafa and online at Lazada.
