Qualcomm just unveiled a new mobile platform, the Snapdragon 710 which is more powerful than the Snapdragon 660 yet sits below the flagship Snapdragon 845.

Compared to the Snapdragon 660, the Snapdragon 710 boasts double the AI performance which will see improvements in a wide range of apps such as biometrics and photography. The Snapdragon 710 is built on a 10nm process, which delivers up to 20% better performance and lower power consumption over the Snapdragon 660.

The Snapdragon 710 comes with the X15 LTE modem (up to 800Mbps download speeds and better signals) and Spectra 250 image processor, which are stepped down variants of the X20 and Spectra 280 found in the flagship 800 series. Qualcomm claims the Snapdragon 710 is it’s first mobile platform outside of the flagship series to support 4K HDR video playback.

The first mobile devices equipped with Snapdragon 710 are expected to be available in the market within this quarter.
