Microsoft releases Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10149

If you’ve chosen to stay on Build 10080 because of the hassles of going to 10136, this latest build is for you, as it doesn’t require you flash your phone to Windows Phone 8.1 first.

Windows Insiders, if you’ve chosen to stay on Build 10080 on your Windows Phone because of the hassles of going to 10136, today’s Build 10149 on the Fast ring is for you, as it doesn’t require you flash your phone to Windows Phone 8.1 first.

That said, the missing post-upgrade migration status screen problem is still present in this build. After upgrading, the lock screen will appear frozen without the date and time for up to 10 minutes - just be patient and wait it out.

So, what’s new in Build 10149? The Microsoft Edge branding is now in this build (note: because of a new app ID, any favorites, cookies, history, and Reading list items that you’ve saved in the Project Spartan app would be lost), and the browser has the address bar at the bottom. The option to view websites in mobile or desktop view is also included in this build.

And for Cortana, you can now set up Quiet Hours in its Notebook and send an email using the personal assistant.

There are several other small but nice additions, including a Flashlight quick action in Action Center, an updated Photos app (get it via the Windows Store Beta) that supports animated GIFs, and automatic camera upload via OneDrive. And of course, general UX improvements and refinement all round.

While the latest build solves several issues in the previous build, it also introduces new ones. For a full list of fixed issues and known existing issues, hit the source link to check out Microsoft’s blog post.

Update (July 8): Build 10149 is now available on the Slow ring.
