LG Sold 100,000 Units of the G3 Smartphone in Five Days after Launch in Korea
The Korea IT Times reported that LG sold over 100,000 units of its G3 flagship smartphone in Korea just five days after its launch. To put that into context, the G3 is selling more than twice faster than its predecessor, the G2.
The LG G3 proved to be a hit among consumers in Korea.
The LG G3 was announced a week ago, but it has already broken sales records in its home country.
According to The Korea IT Times, the cumulative sales of the G3 hit the 100,000 milestone in just five days after its launch on May 28. This is the fastest selling phone ever in LG's history. Its predecessor, the G2, had a domestic per-day sales of less than 10,000 units which means a total sales of about 50,000 units in five days.
The Korea IT Times attributed the bump in sales to LG's aggressive marketing efforts. With its mobile business reaping profits for two straight years, LG is now in a better position to carry out more marketing initiatives.
Singapore is among the first in the world outside of Korea to sell the G3 later this month. Pre-order at all three telcos will start next week, June 14 to 21. Customers who pre-order will receive a free Quick Circle case and the Wireless Charger (WCD-100).
The G3 will be available in retail stores from June 28 and comes in two models: 16GB internal storage with 2GB RAM at $868 and 32GB internal storage with 3GB RAM at $928. For more information on the G3, do check out our hands-on article.
