LG will be revealing its new optical telephoto zoom camera module (also known as Optical Zoom Camera) at CES 2023.

The Optical Zoom Camera is described as a micro-component developed for the smartphone by integrating the telescopic camera functions that were typically applied to DSLRs and mirrorless cameras.

The company says the Optical Zoom Camera offers high-magnification of 4-9 times section for optical zoom filming within one module. The module thickness is also reduced to allow phone makers to design devices with no camera bump, and there will be more space inside the phone for a bigger battery.

LG will be working with Qualcomm to optimise software for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform. Starting with the release of devices at CES 2023, LG and Qualcomm will help to accelerate the adoption of the Optical Zoom Camera among phone makers.
