iPhone XS and XS Max suffer from animation lag after 10 seconds of being idle

The slight animation lag does not seem to affect the iPhone XR.

Slight animation lag seems to be affecting the Apple iPhone XS and XS Max.

9to5Mac has been tracking this issue for a few months and it seems to affect most, if not all the iPhone XS and XS Max units. There are also pages of complaints on Apple's forum threads about the issue since October 2018. Oddly, the iPhone XR and iPhone X do not exhibit the same issue.

In the video demonstration above, you will notice how the iPhone XS drops a couple of frames when you swipe into multi-tasking mode or close an app. This does not happen if the phone is being actively used. The frame drops seem to occur only when the phone is left to idle for at least 10 seconds.

Some users have their units replaced at the Apple Stores, but still encountered the same issue. One user claimed he was told by an Apple staff that the issue lies in the calibration of the phone. Another user said that Apple is aware of the issue as it has received other reports. It is currently investigating the issue.
