The first month of the new year is barely over and iPhone rumours are coming in thick and fast. The latest by renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicates that the iPhone 16 won't be all that different from last year's iPhone 15.

According to Kuo, the iPhone 16 will not have "significant design changes" outside of a larger display and a new "capture" button for video and camera-related functions.

He continues to say that Apple is unlikely to offer any significant form of generative AI featuresunlike Samsung's new Galaxy S24 series – until next year with the iPhone 17 series at the earliest.

And with foldable designs and generative AI being the two hottest trends in high-end smartphones now, coupled with the resurgence of Huawei, and a Chinese market that is in decline, Kuo predicts iPhone shipments to fall as much as 15% this year.

Kuo has at times been pessimistic about the iPhone's future, but the fact is that the iPhone is still chugging along strong. Furthermore, there have been reports that this year's iOS update – iOS 18 – will be the "biggest" in the history of iOS.
