The Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are tipped to receive a major update for the rear main camera.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are going to be equipped with a 48MP rear camera with a new stacked sensor design. In comparison, the Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus use almost the same 12MP camera system (except for a bigger aperture and Photonic Engine) as the iPhone 13.

The new stacked sensor design is said to help capture more light, which means better low-light photography on the non-Pro models. Sony, the supplier of the new 48MP camera sensor, managed to increase its production capacity by 100 - 120% to meet Apple's demand. It was reported last month that Sony reached out to TSMC to help with the production of certain components for the camera units.

Besides the main camera upgrade, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro are expected to come with Dynamic Island, which is an exclusive feature on the iPhone 14 Pro models, and bigger batteries.
