iPhone 13 Pro estimated to cost $20 more to build compared to the iPhone 12 Pro
Despite the higher component costs for the iPhone 13 Pro, Apple still maintains the price points as last year's iPhone 12 Pro.
The Apple iPhone 13 Pro is estimated to cost $20 more than the iPhone 12 Pro to build.
According to TechInsights, the higher costs are due to the improved cameras, A15 chipsets, ProMotion displays and the bigger battery. While it costs Apple $548.50 to build the iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 13 Pro is more expensive to build at $570. For comparison's sake, TechInsights shared that it costs lesser to build the Samsung Galaxy S21+ at $508.
The jump in building cost between the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro is not as significant as that of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. As the iPhone 12 comes with a new design, 5G connectivity and a new 5nm chipset, it is estimated to cost 21% more to build than the iPhone 11.
