Huawei launched its latest flagship smartphone today, the Ascend P8. Running on Android Lollipop 5.0 and powered by an octa-core Kirin 930 64-bit processor with 3GB RAM, the 5.2-inch full metal build dual-sim smartphone boasts a Full HD display and a 13-megapixel camera with best-in-class optical image stabilization. On the front of the device, you'll find an 8-megapixel camera, ideal for selfies.

On top of its high-end hardware, Huawei has packed the Ascend P8 with useful features, like a super low-light mode on its camera, and a fun long-exposure "light painting" mode. A handy "Director Mode" allows you to take control of up to three other Android camera phones, and seamlessly edit together a video taken with different camera angles from each phone on the P8. The camera itself boasts the world's first four-color RGBW camera sensor, which Huawei says will enhance brightness by 32 percent in high contrast lighting situations, and reduce it by 78 percent in low light environments. The camera also has the world's first DSLR-level independent image processor enabling noise reduction when shooting and intelligent detection of a high-contrast lighting environment.

The phone is powered by a 2,600mAh non-removable battery, which Huawei says is good for about a day and a half of normal use.

There'll be four color variants for the device at launch, Mystic Champagne, Prestige Gold, Titanium Grey and Carbon Black, and two models, a standard version for €499 (~S$722), and a premium version for €599 (~S$868).

The P8 will be available in four color variations.

If you're more of a phablet kind of person, Huawei will also be launching the Ascend P8 Max, a huge 6.8-inch phablet which boasts the highest screen to body ratio of any smartphone out there (83 percent!). The P8 Max will also be available in the same four colors, and will be priced at €549 (~S$795) for the standard version, and €649 (~S$939) for the premium version.

Both phones are expected to launch in late May or early June.
