Huawei is rebranding its flagship P-series phones under a new name, making the Huawei P60 handsets the last of its P-series mobiles (hands-on here). However, the numbering of its phones still continues.

To that end, Huawei now has its 2024 flagship smartphone range ready, called the Huawei Pura 70 series. Three models are available: the Huawei Pura 70, the Huawei Pura 70 Pro, and the premium-grade Huawei Pura 70 Ultra.

According to Huawei, the rebrand into the Pura series still retains Huawei’s mobile imaging capabilities and elegant aesthetics. However, the rebrand doesn’t change the phone’s fundamentals: It still runs on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and its own app store, AppGallery, with no native support for Google Mobile Services and Google Play Store (workarounds for these services do exist, FYI).

The new Pura 70 series phones feature Ultra Speed Snapshot for capturing fast-moving subjects. The Pro and Ultra models come with an Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera for macro and long-range architecture photography via an f/2.1 periscope telephoto shooter. Specific to the Ultra model is an Ultra Lighting Pop-out Camera, a retractable camera structure for its 1-inch image sensor.

Both Pura 70 and Pura 70 Pro use Super Durable Kunlun Glass, which is more fall-resistant than its predecessor. Pura 70 Ultra has Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass, which has added scratch resistance on top of its sibling’s fall resistance.

You can check out the phones’ specifications on Huawei’s official website here (Huawei Pura 70, Huawei Pura 70 Pro, and Huawei Pura 70 Ultra).

Notably, the Pro and Ultra share the same 6.8-inch LTPO OLED 1-120Hz display, while the regular Pura 70 uses a 6.6-inch version instead. Pura 70 also uses a Huawei Kirin 9000S1 chipset, while the Pro and Ultra have Kirin 9010.

They also have different battery capacities (4,900mAh for Pura 70, 5,050mAh for Pro, and 5,200mAh for Ultra). All three have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and only accept up to 4G networks.
