HTC Unveils the One (E8), a Plastic Variant of the One (M8) Smartphone
HTC unveiled a plastic variant of its flagship One (M8) smartphone in China. Known as the One (E8), the dual-SIM smartphone ditches the aluminum chassis for polycarbonate and replaces the UltraPixel camera with a 13-megapixel imager.

HTC is not only pushing out a mini variant of the One (M8), it is also rolling out a plastic variant of the flagship smartphone.
Announced yesterday in China, the One (E8) has four main differences from the One (M8). It sports a polycarbonate chassis instead of aluminum. There is no UltraPixel sensor and secondary Duo Camera; you get a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The infrared blaster is also absent on the One (E8), hence you cannot use the phone as a remote control. The One (E8) comes with dual-SIM support, with the SIM card slot 1 supporting 4G connectivity and the SIM card slot 2 supporting 3G connectivity. Like the One (M8), it also uses the nano-SIM standard.
Other than the four differences, the One (E8) has the same specs as the One (M8) such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.5GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, microSD expansion up to 128GB, HTC Sense 6 and BoomSound speakers. The One (E8) also has its own range of Dot View cases
According to The Verge, the One (E8) will be priced at 2799 yuan or S$563 (based on yuan to SGD conversion rates at press time). This is almost half the price of the One (M8), which currently retails at S$998. For now, the One (E8) is only available in China. We were told by HTC that there are plans to bring the device beyond the Chinese market.
