As 2014 draws to a close in two days, rumors on HTC's upcoming flagship smartphone are coming in fast and furious.

According to Android Central, HTC will be scheduling a press event on January 5 which is a day before CES 2015 kicks off. The timing of the event is yet to be revealed and HTC is likely to take the wraps off its upcoming flagship smartphone, the One Hima.

The timing seems out of line with its previous launches; HTC held a media event in New York on March 25 to launch the One (M8). The year before, the Taiwanese company launched the One (M7) at a London event on February 19. If this report turns out to be true, the One Hima will be the first Android flagship smartphone to be announced in 2015.

@upleaks provided some information on the specs of the device a few days ago and the tipster is back with concrete evidence; an AnTuTu benchmark screenshot confirms that the One Hima will sport a 5-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB RAM, a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera.

In addition, Steve Hemmerstoffer of NowhereElseFr tweeted an alleged render of the One Hima which has a casino in Las Vegas as its wallpaper. This is another hint that HTC is indeed making an official announcement a day before CES 2015 starts in Las Vegas.

As the first major tech show of the year, competition for the limelight will be tough as LG, Samsung and Sony are planning media events during CES 2015. Nonetheless, keep your eyes peeled to HardwareZone for the latest news.
