Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei, is launching its new gamer-centric Honor Play on 7th August. The affordable smartphone will be one of the first phones to feature Huawei's new GPU Turbo feature. GPU Turbo claims to deliver better frame rates for mobile games like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Mobile Legends. According to Honor, GPU Turbo delivers 60 percent more efficiency while using 30 percent less power. Currently, GPU Turbo only supports PUBG and Mobile Legends, however Huawei is working with other developers to get them on board.

The phone also includes other gamer-centric features, including virtual 3D surround sound via earphones - and yes, it has a headphone port - and a "4D smart shock" feature that delivers directional haptic feedback that will help you locate where your enemies are.

The Honor Play also has a large 6.3-inch 19.5:9 aspect ratio Full HD+ display and plenty of processing power, thanks to an octa-core Huawei Kirin 970 processor and 4GB RAM. The rear of the phone has a dual camera setup pairing a 16-megapixel lens and a 2-megapixel lens. The camera setup has AI features, similar to the Huawei P20. Inside, there's a 3,750mAh battery that should provide plenty of juice to keep you gaming.

The Honor Play will launch in Singapore on 7th August for S$429, with pre-orders now available on Honor's official store on Qoo10. The phone will subsequently be available at selected retail stores and all official online partners such as Shopee and Lazada.
