After a long wait since October last year, Honor is finally ready to bring the Magic7 Pro to Singapore.

Massively expanded AI capabilities with MagicOS 9.0

According to Honor, the phone’s Android 15 operating system, MagicOS 9.0, saw massive revamps in its second-generation AI capabilities.

YouTube video player

Magic Portal has been upgraded, promising to improve understanding and guide users to the correct apps. It’s a different take on Google’s Circle To Search. Honor said you can circle or highlight images and texts, and the Magic Portal sidebar will offer relevant apps (e.g., searching for books gives you e-commerce apps).

Magic Portal now works with transport, entertainment, productivity, and shopping apps.

An interesting new AI feature is AI Deepfake Detection, which is integrated into the phone and automatically triggers during video calls from select messaging apps (at launch, it’s supported on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat). If enabled, AI Deepfake Detection provides a pop-up notification during these calls to indicate whether the caller is a genuine person (green) or a suspected AI-made deepfake (red).

In other AI arenas, Magic7 Pro supports AI Translation in up to 14 languages (English, French, Italian, German, European Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, Malay, Arabic, Chinese, and Thai). The translation feature supports two-way, two-language, real-time conversational and Face-to-Face Mode translations. It also has AI Interpreter (one-way listening, translation, and audio playback via Honor Open earbuds).

The phone has AI Eraser and AI Cutout for photo editing. The former removes distracting objects and photo bombers, and the latter extracts elements of a photo to use elsewhere.

For productivity, the built-in Honor Notes app has AI Summary and AI Format (for tonal changes) are used.

Finally, it is also Gemini compatible. It grants users access to Gemini Live and provides the Gemini overlay when you long-press the power button and swipe up from a corner.

Honor Magic7 Pro’s triple rear camera system is called the AI Honor Falcon Camera, with a 50MP main (f/1,4 to f/2.0 adjustable aperture, OIS), 50MP ultrawide (f/2.0), and 200MP telephoto (f/2.6 with 3x optical zoom, 6x “seamless zoom” and 100x digital zoom). Together, they offer a focal range of 24 to 2,400mm.

According to Honor, the primary camera has improved brightness and light intake. Other camera features include its Light and Shadow Portrait Mode, Harcourt Portrait Mode (first appeared on the Honor 200 series, available on 3x and 6x zoom), AI Enhanced Portrait, AI Super Zoom, and Stage Mode.

The 6.8-inch, 1-120Hz LTPO AMOLED curved screen (2,800 x 1,280 pixels resolution) offers eye comfort and blue light reduction features (certified by TÜV Rheinland) and supports Dolby Vision content. Its peak brightness is 5,000 nits.

Its 5,850mAh capacity is paired with an Honor E2 power management chip, on top of 100W wired and 80W wireless charging for better battery efficiency.

The phone is also rated for IP68 + IP69 water and dust resistance, but Honor made the phone more durable with NanoCrystal Shield, a proprietary glass type with 10 times the drop resistance of normal glass, per their claims.

Of course, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which we’ve repeated a few times by now. The Magic7 Pro also gets four years of firmware and five years of security updates.
