Google Responds to Oracle Java Lawsuit

See you in court! That's the expected response from Google after Oracle launched its legal attack on the search giant's Android operating system. By claiming that Android was infringing on its copyright of Java, Oracle is asserting the rights it acquired from its purchase of Sun, the creator of Java. While this move could put a dampener to Google's rising Android OS, the possible legal implications could also spell the end of Java as a language for developers.

Computerworld - Google will put up a fight in response to the patent- and copyright-infringement lawsuit that Oracle filed over the use of Java in the Android mobile phone platform. Oracle's lawsuit is a disappointing and "baseless" attack not only against Google but also against the open-source Java community, Google spokesman Aaron Zamost said via e-mail on Friday.
