Google reportedly wants to replace Android and Chrome OS with Fuchsia OS

Fuchsia OS is said to be the single platform for running all Google devices such as phones, smart speakers and laptops.

The mysterious Fuchsia OS that Google was discovered to be secretly working on two years ago is said to replace Android and Chrome OS within the next five years.

According to Bloomberg, more than 100 engineers are currently working on the Fuchsia OS with support from Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Design executive Matias Duarte is said to be one of the few venerated software staff to be involved as well.

The engineers reportedly discussed a grand plan to use Fuchsia OS as a single platform to power all Google's gadgets such as the Pixel phones, the smart speakers and Chrome OS devices. One source told Bloomberg that the engineers have plans to integrate Fuchsia OS into connected home home devices within three years before shifting their focus to bigger devices.

The Fuchsia OS is seen as a better platform for Google to compete with Apple; it is being designed to better accommodate voice interactions and regular software updates, and to have a similar interface across different devices. The current Android OS is clearly not built or optimized for these features.
